Why MSPs may use both
A managed service provider typically uses an RMM as the operational backbone and a dedicated remote-support product for high-touch user assistance. The RMM keeps the fleet standardized between tickets; the remote-support tool handles the interactive moments when someone needs help right now.

- Which tools will your team install on our devices, and what do they do?
- Is remote access attended or unattended? If unattended, what controls prevent misuse?
- How are technician sessions authenticated? Is multi-factor authentication required?
- Are remote sessions recorded or logged? Who can review those logs?

Authorization matters as much as the tool
The most important control is not which product a provider uses — it is how access is authorized, logged, and reviewed. A well-run RMM with weak access controls is a worse risk than a simpler tool with strong ones.
